Statement of Faith

THE SCRIPTURES

The scriptures are comprised of the entire Bible which is the inspired Word of God. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, is the infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.

THE GODHEAD

The Godhead is comprised of the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

The Lord Jesus Christ must be believed upon in all aspects of his humanity, deity, virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death for the sins of mankind, resurrection for the justification of mankind, ascension to the Father’s right hand and personal return to reign on the earth. There is no other way to receive salvation from God except through the Lord Jesus Christ as stated in Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

MAN, HIS FALL, SALVATION AND SANCTIFICATION

Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and confession of Him as Lord, producing an upright and moral life. The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. Sanctification is a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of salvation and continuing until the consummation of salvation.

WATER BAPTISM

Baptism in water is by complete immersion and is a direct commandment of the Lord Jesus. Baptism is for believers only and is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ, in His death, burial and resurrection.

COMMUNION

Communion is celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ’s atonement in accordance with Christ’s command to do so.

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus to those who believe and is received with or subsequent to the new birth. This experience is usually accompanied by the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance.

GIFTS AND FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit are manifest in the believer’s life as evidence of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The gifts as listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 are for the primary purpose of edification of mankind and the enlargement of Christ’s kingdom on earth. The fruits as listed in Galatians 5:22-23 is the character of God manifested in a believer’s life.

DIVINE HEALING

Divine healing is for the physical ailments of the human body and is accomplished by the power of God through the prayer of faith and laying on of hands of a believer. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ and is available to every member of the Church today to both administer and receive.

THE CHURCH UNIVERSAL

The Church Universal comprises of all born again believers of all nations and denominations under the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

BIBLE PROPHECY AND THE RESURRECTION

This will be fulfilled in world events heralding the climax of the age and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. When He comes, “the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus, we shall always be with the Lord.”(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION

The one who physically dies in his sins without Christ is still in his sins and is hopelessly and eternally lost, firstly into hell and then in the lake of fire. Such a one therefore has no further opportunity of responding to the Gospel of repentance and receiving salvation. The lake of fire is literal, and the terms “eternal” and “everlasting” are used to describe the duration of the punishment of the dammed in the lake of fire. These terms carry the same thought and meaning as the endless existence as used in noting the duration of joy and ecstasy of the believer in the presence of God.
